This building opened as a hotel in the 1960s. Soul singer James Brown bought it and renamed it the James Brown Motor Inn in 1970. Eventually it was converted into a nursing home, the first of it’s kind in the country to accept patients with AIDS. Eventually the property became abandoned and fell into decay. In 2015 work began to covert it into housing.
